Course Information
Description Concepts of basic algebra. Operations on real numbers and polynomials, solving equations, inequalities and systems, graphing, and problem solving are included. This is a corequisite taken only with DMTH 0310 in the same semester/part of term.
Required Textbooks Textbook Purchasing Statement: A student attending Lamar State College Port Arthur is not under any obligation to purchase a textbook from the college-affiliated bookstore. The same textbook may also be available from an independent retailer, including an online retailer.

This is a support course for Beginning Algebra. Required materials are detailed in the specific DMTH 0310 course syllabus in which you are enrolled.

Corequisites/Prerequisites Co-requisite: MATH 0310 in the same semester/part of term.

Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will:

1. Use appropriate symbolic notation and vocabulary to communicate, interpret, and explain mathematical concepts.
2. Define, represent, and perform operations on real numbers, applying numeric reasoning to investigate and describe quantitative relationships and solve real world problems in a variety of contexts.
3. Use algebraic reasoning to solve problems that require ratios, rates, percentages, and proportions in a variety of contexts using multiple representations.
4. Apply algebraic reasoning to manipulate expressions and equations to solve real world problems.
5. Use graphs, tables, and technology to analyze, interpret, and compare data sets.
6. Construct and use mathematical models in verbal, algebraic, graphical, and tabular form to solve problems from a variety of contexts and to make predictions and decisions.

Determination of
Final Grade
Your DMTH 0110 final grade will be determined solely by your weekly posts and participation in the Weekly Discussions. Each week you must post at least ONE question/comment.

There are no finals, tests, or quizzes in this class. It is meant only to support your success in your main class. So it is imperative that you submit your post weekly and participate in discussions.

You must have a total of at least 11 points (70% average) for your weekly posts to receive a Pass (Satisfactory).
Any total less than 11 points (70% average) for your weekly posts will receive a Fail (Unsatisfactory).

DMTH 0110 is based on Pass (Satisfactory=SD) or Fail (Unsatisfactory=UD).

Traditional letter grades will not be assigned.

Facility Policies No food or tobacco products are allowed in the classroom. Only students enrolled in the course are allowed in the classroom, except by special instructor permission. Use of electronic devices is prohibited.
